CASwell’s latest supreme appliance, the CAR-5071, provides world-class performance. The system offers flexibility through modular network and storage configurations, and it also provides the option to enhance specific usage models, such as smart networking and artificial intelligence (AI) computing.

The CAR-5071, equipped with two Intel Xeon Gen.5 processors, stands out as one of the most powerful multi-networking solutions available. Its front-end interchangeable network and storage modules enable effortless customization to meet specific customer requirements. Moreover, these systems incorporate six internal PCI Express Gen.5 slots that not only accommodate regular expansion cards for networking but can also be equipped with DPUs (data processing units) and Smart NICs. DPUs are specialized cards designed for hardware-accelerated data processing, while Smart NICs serve as programmable accelerators, enhancing efficiency and flexibility in data center networking, security, and storage by offloading tasks from server processors.
Additionally, programmable FPGA-based accelerators can assume some of the CPU workload, further enhancing the functionality of the overall appliance. These appliances can also host dedicated AI accelerator cards, empowering advanced artificial intelligence computing, which is increasingly pervasive in various domains.

CAR-5071 can be installed with the NVIDIA ConnectX-7 family of network interface cards (NICs) which can provide up to 400 Gigabit/s of total bandwidth, offering scalable networking solutions for AI, edge computing, or the evolving needs of modern data centers.

Consider the use case of fraud detection in retail stores during the pandemic. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, retailers implemented self-service checkouts. However, they noticed losses due to customers incorrectly scanning goods. To address this, camera-based fraud detection technologies were deployed at the checkouts.
