The CASwell CAR-5050 rackmount server as officially verified Intel Select Solution for Visual Cloud Delivery Networks (VCDN) comes with two 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 384 GB main memory and two Intel SSD DC P4510. This configuration is a workload optimized solution with validated performance to meet the rapidly emerging needs for content delivery networks (CDNs). Delivering scale, flexibility and high performance, this solution by CASwell is designed to accelerate visual services at the edge of the network.

This CAR-5050 setup allows immediate building and deploying next generation CDN servers because of its Intel-approved and -verified configuration and performance. It therefore helps reduce procurement and deployment time for Communication Service Providers (CommSPs) and other customers. This Intel Select Solution for VCDN accelerates delivery of compelling visual services in service provider networks by using CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

Optimized & Certified Hardware Configuration

The CASwell CAR-5050 Intel Select Solution for VCDN is based on two 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors like the Intel Xeon Gold 6230N with 20 cores but can also be configured with Intel Xeon Platinum CPUs with up to 28 cores depending on customer’s requirements. Combined with 384 GB or more DDR4-2666 main memory, two Intel SSD DC P4510 with at least 2.0 TB each, two dual-port Intel XXV710 Ethernet Controllers for 25GbE SFP28, and various 25-Gbps Ethernet connections through CASwell’s own network modules, this system provides both high performance and flexible configurations.

Additionally, the CAR-5050 Intel Select Solution for VCDN can be equipped with Intel Optane Persistent memory for fast caching and storage plus giving customers the agility for higher capacities required for certain applications and preparation for evolving workload needs. Intel QuickAssist Technology (Intel QAT) can be provided by an Intel QAT 8960 or 8970 adapter card to accelerate cryptographic applications, plus compression and decompression algorithms.

The base configuration of the CASwell CAR-5050 Intel Select Solution for Visual Cloud CDN is a value performance optimized hardware configuration. It delivers notable CDN performance for network virtual functions, basic networking, cryptography and compression technology. It is a Hyper Converged node with all required resources to implement a software-defined infrastructure within each server instance.
