The CAR-5050 Intel Select Solution for NFVi Forwarding Platform (NFVi FP) is an officially verified rackmount appliance specifically designed for communication service providers, mobile and network companies looking for optimal balanced, high-performance, all-inclusive software-defined networking systems.
The CASwell CAR-5050 is based on two 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors like the Intel Xeon Gold 6230N with 20 cores but can also be configured with Intel Xeon Platinum CPUs with up to 28 cores depending on customer’s requirements. Combined with 384 GByte DDR4-2666 main memory, two Intel SSD D3-S4510 with 480 GByte each, and various 25 Gbps Ethernet connections, this system provides both high power and flexibility in a cloud-based environment as it can be used either as a controller node or as a cloud node.
Additionally, the CAR-5050 Intel Select Solution for NFVi FP can be equipped with Intel Optane DC persistent memory for fast caching and storage plus giving customers higher capacities for the applications they need. Intel QuickAssist Technology (Intel QAT) can be provided by an Intel QAT adapter 8960 or 8970 to accelerate cryptographic and compression or decompression services.
