The CASwell CAR-2100 is designed for organizations that demand next-generation network security, performance, and flexibility. Built in a compact low-profile 1U form factor, it represents a major step forward from its predecessor, the CAR-2090, with significant improvements in processing power, memory speed, and expansion options.
Powered by Intel’s 12th or 13th Gen Core processors (Alder Lake or Raptor Lake), the CAR-2100 features a hybrid CPU architecture that combines high-performance cores with energy-efficient cores. This configuration supports up to 24 cores and 32 threads, higher clock speeds, and enhanced L2 cache, ensuring the system can manage the most demanding networking and security workloads while maintaining an efficient thermal design power of 65 watts or less.
The CAR-2100 is versatile enough to address a wide range of applications. It excels in traditional network security tasks such as firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, anti-spam, and unified threat management, but also supports more advanced functions like software-defined networking, network function virtualization, server load balancing, wireless control, and even Ethernet-based industrial automation. This makes it an ideal platform for enterprises, service providers, and industries seeking robust and flexible network infrastructure.
Performance is further enhanced by support for up to 128GB of DDR5 memory with speeds reaching 5600 MHz, delivering the responsiveness required for modern, data-intensive operations. Connectivity is equally flexible, with eight 2.5GbE ports with bypass support provided as standard. For growing network demands, this can be expanded to as many as twenty Ethernet ports through CASwell’s NIN modules and one additional daughter board for four more Ethernet ports, ensuring the system adapts seamlessly to evolving requirements.
Storage options are designed for both reliability and speed. Three SATA 3.0 ports and a SATADOM connection come standard, while systems equipped with the R680E chipset also offer an onboard M.2 slot for NVMe or SATA SSDs. At the front of the appliance, the LCD module covers the storage section of two 2.5-inch SATA SSDs or HDDs, with the option to upgrade to an iSAM module for hot-swappable drives. Together, these options ensure maximum flexibility for different deployment environments.
With its modern CPU architecture, next-generation DDR5 memory, expandable networking capabilities, and optimized power and cooling design, the CASwell CAR-2100 delivers the performance, reliability, and scalability businesses need to secure and manage their networks today while preparing for the challenges of tomorrow.
