The highly configurable CASwell CAR-2070 offers up to 14 Gigabit Ethernet ports for network security and unified threat management (UTM). This compact 1U rackmount device is available with both regular RJ-45 GbE ports and high-speed SFP connections and CASwell’s proprietary network module.
Besides traditional network security applications such as firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, anti-spam, anti-virus, UTM and WAN, the CASwell CAR-2070 is also targeting software defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) applications as well as network management applications such as Virtualized Data Center, ADC, QoS, server load balancer, wireless controller, and industrial automation control via Ethernet TCP/IP.
The CASwell CAR-2070 uses the well established Intel Core 6th and 7th generation processsors, but also supports Pentium and Celeron models of this generation (Skylake and Kaby Lake). The CPU can be paired with up to 64 Gigabyte ECC DDR4-2666 main memory on two DIMM slots, The system includes six Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports onboard and up to eight more network ports with the optional CASwell NIP module or a standard PCIe NIC. TheCASwell NIP is connected to the main system by high-speed PCI Express 3.0.
Like it’s predecessor, the widely adopted CAR-2060, the CASwell CAR-2070 offers front I/O flexibility and multi-function design. Besides the many different networking configurations, customers are able to select various combinations of 2.5″ HDDs or SSDs over SATA 3.0 and M.2 connections, copper and fiber media, GbE/10GbE/40GbE/100GbE and one LC display module with function buttons.
